The company that processes payments such as buying Airtime, mobile data, Umeme Yaka electricity bills, tickets, Pay TV among other things has been predominantly doing so offline with its kioks and agent network. However, now the company has released an online platform available at https://paywaykiosk.com/ that enables Ugandans to pay bills online. They call it a web kiosk. Now Payway this time is enabling you do that through visa and Master cards. Obviously this is where the magic vanishes since only a fraction of the banked population has MasterCard or Visa support cards with online transactions enabled. But still we shall be closing watching how Payway plays the electronic payment puzzle online. In the meantime, Kenyan-based online payment provider JamboPay is said to be launching in Uganda soon.
